THE CALL ARRIVED

It was a Tuesday morning when I received a text from my older son, Benjamin.  He has been wanting to serve a mission for our church for awhile now and submitted his paperwork a couple weeks ago.  Of course my husband and I were out of town when he received his call and wanted to know if he would like to open it over FaceTime.  He quickly declined and told us that he wanted to wait until SUNDAY when we returned home and wanted to invite friends from our church over to join in his excitement.

How could he be so calm and wait patiently??? Our church had sent me an email with his mission information too, but I abstained from opening and spoiling the surprise. My son has truly grown into a mature adult.  I couldn't have been more proud of him.  To devote two years of his life to teach others about our Savior, Jesus Christ will be a growing experience for him.

As friends and family gathered together on Sunday afternoon, right before the Super Bowl kickoff.  We placed his missionary cupcakes out for our guests and had each person place a guess around the globe to see where Benjamin might possibly serve his mission.  Benjamin had asked me earlier that day that if he was to be called somewhere that didn't have pizza, would I mail him pizza?  Benjamin opened his email and began to read...Santa Rosa, California Spanish speaking Mission.  He reports to the Mexico Missionary Training Center on June 19th.  He is truly excited and I am happy that I don't need to figure out how to mail a pizza to him.
